Township of Oro-Medonte reminding residents of alternative payment methods due to Canada Post strike and information regarding Notice of Public Hearings

Due to the current Canada Post strike, please note disruption to mail service is likely. Please see How to Pay Your Tax & Utility Bills | Township of Oro-Medonte to enroll in the Township’s pre-authorized payment program, information regarding  property tax and water payment due dates, and for details regarding payment options for tax and water bills including:

  • Pre-authorized payment plans
  • Online banking or telephone banking
  • At financial institutions 
  • By credit card
  • In-person or drop-box 
  • paysimply.ca (note: in-person at a post office using cash or debit currently not available due to Canada Post strike)

Please contact the Finance department at 705-487-2171 to determine the balance on your account.

Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) payment options are also available for vendors. If you are expecting a mailed cheque from the Township, please contact us to make arrangements for EFT payments. The Township is unable to make exceptions for late payments sent by mail.

The current Canada Post strike has impacted the Township’s ability to mail Notices of Public Hearings, please visit our Public Notices webpage for information regarding current Public Hearings.

The Art Tree's Began in Craighurst in 2022

In June, 2022, the Township announced that our Craighurst Public Art Project was selected for the My Main Street Community Activator program as part of a $3.5-million investment by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), ​and has received funding to create and install unique and beautiful seven-foot sculptures at seven business locations in the village of Craighurst. The trees were designed and fabricated locally by David Smith of Oro Design, following a call for artists and a juried competition, seven local artists have been selected to visually enhance the large metal sculptures. One small version of the sculptures was created to promote the program and was completed by Meg Leslie, artist and the project coordinator.​​​
