Canine Control
The Municipal Law Enforcement Division is responsible for the enforcement of the Canine (dog) Control By-law.
As part of the enforcement of these By-laws, Township Municipal Law Enforcement Officers will investigate dog attacks/bites and when necessary, proceed accordingly under By-law No. 2018-005 or the Dog Owner's Liability Act. Any dog that is found running at large will be retrieved by the Municipal Law Enforcement Officers and may be impounded at, Heartland Kennel facilities 336 Line 5 North, Oro-Medonte, 705-487-2660. A Canine Release Form is to be obtained from the Township prior to Heartland Kennel being permitted to release any impounded dog.
The Township's Municipal Law Enforcement Officers are available 24hrs a day 7 days a week. Municipal Law Enforcement staff can be reached by contacting the Township office at (705) 487-2171.
